These terms of use explain the rules for using the Humanity First UK website at hfuk.org and any content, features, and services available through it. By using our website you confirm that you accept these terms and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, please do not use our website. We recommend that you print or save a copy of these terms for your records.
This website is operated by Humanity First UK ("Humanity First", "we", "us", "our"). We are a charity registered in England and Wales (No. 1188494) and a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (company No. 11512888). Our registered office is 104A Roebuck Road, Chessington, KT9 1EU.

These terms of use govern general use of our website. Some of our activities have their own additional terms, which apply alongside these:
We may revise these terms from time to time by amending this page. Please check this page occasionally to take notice of any changes, as they are binding on you when you use the website.
You may use our website only for lawful purposes and in line with these terms. You agree not to:
We may suspend or withdraw access to all or part of the website, or to any user, where we reasonably consider it necessary.
We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our website and in the material published on it, including text, images, graphics, and design. These works are protected by copyright and other laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You may view, print, and download extracts of material from our website for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided that you do not modify the material and that you keep intact any copyright and other proprietary notices. You must not use any part of the material on our website for commercial purposes without obtaining our prior written permission.
"Humanity First", "Humanity First UK", and "HFUK" are registered trade marks of Humanity First International, used by Humanity First UK as its UK national arm. Our name, logo, and these marks may not be used without prior written permission.
The content on our website is provided for general information only, in good faith. Details of our appeals, programmes, projects, and any figures we publish may change over time, and the content is not intended to amount to advice on which you should rely. Although we make reasonable efforts to keep the information up to date, we make no representations, warranties, or guarantees, whether express or implied, that the content is accurate, complete, or current.
You can donate to our work through our website. Card donations are processed securely by Stripe, and monthly Direct Debits are set up and collected by GoCardless, as described in our Privacy Notice. Your card and bank details are entered directly into secure fields hosted by those providers and are never seen or stored by Humanity First.
Please check the amount and details before you confirm a donation. If you make a donation in error, for example a duplicate donation or the wrong amount, please contact us within 30 days of the donation. Where we are satisfied that a genuine error has been made, we will refund the donation to the original payment card or account. We refund only to the original payment method, which helps protect against fraud and money laundering. Outside these circumstances, donations are not usually refundable, as they are put to work funding our charitable activities.
If we have already claimed Gift Aid on a donation that is later refunded, we will adjust that claim with HMRC. Gift Aid can only be claimed where you have made a valid declaration and you meet HMRC's eligibility criteria. You can change or cancel a monthly Direct Debit at any time by contacting us or through your bank, under the Direct Debit Guarantee.
Donations are used for the purpose described in the relevant appeal or, for general donations, wherever the need is greatest. If we raise more than is needed for a particular purpose, or that purpose cannot be carried out as originally planned, or we do not raise enough to deliver it, we will use the funds for other charitable work as close as reasonably possible to the original purpose. Where an appeal sets a specific target, the appeal page will explain what happens to any surplus or shortfall.
Our website is made available free of charge. We do not guarantee that our website, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict the availability of all or any part of the website for business and operational reasons. We will not be liable to you if, for any reason, our website is unavailable at any time or for any period.
You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to our website, and for ensuring that anyone who accesses it through your internet connection is aware of these terms and complies with them.
Where our website contains links to other sites and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only. We have no control over the contents of those sites or resources, and the links should not be interpreted as our approval or endorsement of them.
You may link to our home page, provided you do so in a way that is fair and lawful and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not establish a link in a way that suggests any form of association, approval, or endorsement on our part where none exists. You must not frame our website on any other site. We may withdraw linking permission at any time.
We do not guarantee that our website will be secure or free from bugs or viruses. You are responsible for configuring your own technology and security software to access our website, and for using your own virus-protection software.
You must not misuse our website by knowingly introducing viruses or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful, or by attempting to gain unauthorised access to our website or any connected system. Doing so may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law-enforcement authorities and co-operate with them.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We provide our website for general information. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations, and other terms that might otherwise be implied. We will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, our website or its content.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Humanity First UK welcomes feedback and takes complaints seriously. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, our services, our fundraising, or the conduct of anyone acting on our behalf, please tell us. You can raise a complaint through our contact form, choosing "Complaint" as the subject, or email [email protected].
We will consider your complaint fairly and without unnecessary delay. We will acknowledge your complaint and keep you informed as we look into it. The time we need for a full response depends on the nature of the complaint, as some can be resolved quickly and others need more detailed investigation.
Humanity First UK is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and follows the Code of Fundraising Practice. If your complaint is about our fundraising and you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer it to the Fundraising Regulator at www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk.
Concerns about how we handle your personal information are covered by our Privacy Notice.
These terms, their subject matter, and their formation are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you live in another part of the United Kingdom you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
