In one of the most devastating humanitarian crises of our time, our teams have remained on the ground across Gaza, delivering clean water, food, shelter and even classroom learning to families who have lost everything. Despite severe access, logistical, and security constraints, our agile team has continued to serve each day.
Humanity First UK has its own team on the ground in Gaza, our own staff and volunteers drawn from the communities we serve, who carry out the work themselves. This direct presence lets us respond quickly and personally to families' needs, and ensures assistance reaches them safely and efficiently even when access for international aid is limited or delayed. Through careful coordination and a deep understanding of local conditions, we are able to maintain consistent support in a context where uncertainty, displacement, and scarcity are daily realities.
Our commitment goes beyond emergency relief. We strive to support resilience and dignity for families enduring the crisis, working closely with the communities we serve to understand evolving needs and deliver timely humanitarian assistance. In a region where conditions can change rapidly, our independent teams remain on the frontlines, ensuring that help reaches those who need it most.
Since October 2023, our team has reached thousands of people every week across Gaza and the West Bank, providing clean water through daily water trucking, hygiene supplies for families, and education for displaced children. We keep delivering wherever access allows, adapting as needs change on the ground.
Our work in Palestine goes back years. See the work we did in Gaza before the war, from clean-water units for health clinics to rooftop gardens and an IT lab for blind and partially sighted students.
In July our WASH team ran water trucking from northern to southern Gaza and completed a new water pipeline in Deir al-Balah, serving around 200 displaced families with essential household water. Trucking ran uninterrupted for a full month.

Our teams in Gaza continue to deliver essential relief through the following ongoing projects.
Humanity First delivers clean drinking water through a continuous water trucking operation. Our team reaches communities where infrastructure is damaged or supplies are limited. Working within the WASH Cluster, we ensure that families receive safe water consistently in areas facing severe shortages.
Psychosocial support for displaced children alongside dignity kits for women and girls, diapers for older people and people with disabilities, and hygiene buckets for households. Delivered in partnership with Medical Aid for Palestinians and Anera.
Providing essential food parcels and meals for families experiencing food insecurity. Our teams work within the Food Security Cluster to reach vulnerable households, ensuring access to basic nutrition when markets are disrupted and supplies are unstable.
Humanity First provides UN-spec family and multipurpose tents to support displaced communities who have lost their homes. These shelters offer immediate protection in severe conditions. Coordination with the Shelter Cluster ensures that tents reach priority areas and meet the most urgent shelter needs.
Our disaster risk reduction work supports communities in improving preparedness and safety. Sessions focus on awareness, practical measures, and local resilience. This helps families protect themselves and respond more effectively to risks in a challenging and unpredictable environment.
Since 2024 we have established and run Temporary Learning Sites at a Humanity First Camp in South Gaza, offering a core curriculum coordinated with the UN Education Cluster, Arabic, English and Maths, to over 2,000 children. The programme keeps schooling running through the war.
The war in Gaza is having a catastrophic humanitarian impact on the population. Essentials such as food, water, medicine, hygiene and shelter are in short supply.
The United Nations reports that since 7 October, up to 1.9 million people (over 85 per cent of the population) have been displaced across the Gaza Strip, some multiple times. Families are forced to move repeatedly in search of safety.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, as reported by the United Nations, more than 72,000 Palestinians had been killed and over 172,000 injured in Gaza by May 2026, many of them women and children.
Humanity First is delivering emergency supplies including clean water, hygiene kits, food and tents. We provide clean water through daily water trucking, as well as education through our Temporary Learning Spaces across Gaza.
Humanity First works in coordination with the global humanitarian community through the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), our local team and partners, to ensure the most urgent needs are addressed based on local need and the capacity to deliver them.
Working with our experienced teams in Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan, Humanity First coordinates with the authorities to secure access for aid into Gaza, as well as purchasing from the local market.
We do this with our own teams on the ground, as well as through our existing partnerships with friends at ANERA and MAP.
Nowhere is sadly safe in Gaza right now, and like many other NGOs our dedicated staff have all been displaced from their homes. Most are staying in shelters and have limited access to food, water, or electricity.
Humanity First is a member of the United Nations Cluster system, which helps coordinate sectors such as health, food security, water, sanitation and shelter so that NGOs work together with local authorities and coordination mechanisms. We are also a member of AIDA (Association of International Development Agencies), where we share best practice and coordinate with other international NGOs working in Palestine.
Our teams have been working hard in Gaza, the West Bank and Jordan, coordinating with relevant authorities to secure access for aid into Gaza. We are partners with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and also partner with UNICEF in Gaza to distribute hygiene supplies.
As stated by the United Nations and NGOs working in Gaza, the humanitarian aid operation is unfortunately an opportunistic one, and only a small fraction of what is needed reaches people.
Humanity First UK is a politically non-partisan, non-governmental charity registered in England and Wales, subject to strict requirements as to how we work and the objectives we pursue. Our due diligence into our work and any partners includes checking that the partner is not subject to a terrorism status under UK law (broadly known as 'proscribed groups' and 'designated persons'), and general compliance with counter-terrorism, sanctions and bribery law in the UK.
We fully comply with UK law and check the individuals and organisations we work with against UK Government lists of terrorist organisations provided through the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), as well as lists from the United States Government through the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Since Hamas is designated as a 'proscribed group' by the UK Government, Humanity First does not work or coordinate with them.
Humanity First UK is audited annually by our independent auditors, Grant Harrod Lerman Davis LLP, and our accounts can be viewed on the UK Charity Commission website. We also join monthly meetings with the UK FCDO alongside NGO colleagues working in Gaza to keep the FCDO updated and advocate for our work.
Due to the ongoing challenges, aid distribution is severely restricted across the Gaza Strip. However, despite these challenges and the imposition of the yellow line, our teams reach across Gaza from north to south.
