Gaza Emergency

Humanity First has been working for the world’s poorest and most vulnerable (including in the Middle East) for over 25 years.

Over 30,000 people across Gaza have been killed during this unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The situation continues to worsen daily.

By donating today, you can support our humanitarian efforts in the region. Our teams are working hard to get aid into Gaza and we also work with trusted partners on the ground who are responding with medical relief, food, shelter and sanitation.

Message from Chairman, Dr. Aziz Hafiz.

Humanity First calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Dr. Hammad Khan, Neonatologist, reports on pre-term babies dying in Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital.

The war in Gaza is having a catastrophic humanitarian impact on the population as was outlined in our recent Hope for Gaza program,

Essentials such as food, water, medicine, hygiene, and shelter are in short supply. The United Nations reports that since 7 October, up to 1.9 million people (or over 85 per cent of the population) have been displaced across the Gaza Strip, some multiple times. Families are forced to move repeatedly in search of safety.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, between 7 October and the morning of 22 December, at least 20,057 Palestinians were killed in Gaza. About 70 per cent of those killed are women and children. As of then, 53,320 Palestinians have been injured.

Humanity First is delivering blankets, jackets, water, rice, flour, beans, sugar, and non-perishable food items. We are also working with our partners ANERA and MAP to provide medical supplies.

Humanity First works in coordination with the global humanitarian community through the UN Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), our local team and partners to ensure that the most urgent needs are addressed based on local need and the capacity to deliver those needs.

Working with our teams in Gaza, West Bank, Jordan and Egypt Humanity First works in coordination with the authorities in Egypt and Jordan to secure access for our trucks to bring in urgent food and shelter supplies to Gaza.

As per our past projects, we shall use funds raised to support long term development needs in the health, education, and WASH sectors. This we do with our own teams on the ground as well as our existing partnerships with friends at ANERA and MAP.

No where is sadly safe in Gaza right now and like many other NGO’s our dedicated staff have all been displaced from their homes. Most are staying in shelters and have little access to food, water, or electricity.

Humanity First is a member of the United Nations Cluster system which helps coordinate sectors such as health, food security, water, sanitation, and shelter to ensure that NGOs work together with local authorities and coordination mechanisms.

Our teams have been working hard in Egypt, the West Bank and Jordan in coordinating with relevant authorities to secure access for aid into Gaza As has been stated by the United Nations and NGOs working in Gaza the humanitarian aid operation is unfortunately an opportunistic one and only a small fraction of what is actually needed. Until there isn’t a ceasefire this situation continues to deteriorate.

Humanity First UK is a politically non-partisan, nongovernmental charity registered in England and Wales, subject to strict requirements as to how we work and the objectives we pursue. Our due diligence processes into our work and any partners includes checking that the partner is not subject to a terrorism status under UK law (broadly known as ‘proscribed groups’ and ‘designated persons’), and general compliance with counterterrorism, sanctions, and bribery law in the UK. We fully comply with UK laws and check individuals and organisations we work with against government lists of terrorist organisations provided by the UK Government through the Office of sanctions Implementation (OFSI) aswell as lists from the United States government through the U.S. Treasury Department on its Office of Foreign Assets Control list (OFAC) Since Hamas is designated as a “proscribed group” by the UK Government Humanity First does not work or coordinate with them. Humanity First UK is audited annually by our  independent auditors Grant Harrod Lerman Davis LLP which can viewed on the UK Charity Commission website.

Due to the ongoing war and bombardment aid distribution is severely restricted across the Gaza Strip. Our aid once it enters Gaza through the Rafah Crossing is then distributed via UNWRA (United Nations Work and Relief Agency). Aid distribution is mainly in the south where most people are displaced to.
