Today’s Update
- Ministry of Defence have helped build Nightingale hospital, mobile units and the delivery of PPE
- Providing PPE has been one of the biggest logistical tasks with the supply chain increasing from serving 223 hospital trusts to over 58,000 in different locations within a space of 25 days
- Over 13,000 people on 63 flights have been brought home with more planned in the coming days and weeks
- Diagnostic Labs in Milton Keynes, Glasgow and Alderley Park in Cheshire are now live and are already testing thousands of patient samples for coronavirus each day
- UK unlikely to see a sudden drop in COVID-19 cases once the peak is passed
- 10,000 beds available in NHS with over 3,000 available in critical care
- 27 drive-through test centres are open
- UK daily testing capacity now at 40,000
- 10,700 ventilators are available for use
- One billion PPE has been delivered
- NHS contact tracing app is currently in BETA trials
Previous Measures remain in place:
- People should not meet with friends or family members they do not live with
- Shopping is only permitted for essentials like food and medicine
- Police have powers to enforce the rules, which include disbursements of gatherings and issuance of fines
- All shops selling non-essential goods to be closed
- Libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and places of worship remain closed
- All gatherings of more than two people in public excluding those you live with are banned
- All social events are banned, including weddings and baptisms, but Funerals are excluded
- Parks remain open for exercise, however, gatherings will be dispersed
- These restrictions will be constantly reviewed
- Self- Employed will be able to claim 80% of average monthly earnings over past 3 years, capped to £2500 per month, open to those who are already self-employed with trading profits up to £50,000 a year and have a self-assessment tax return for 2019
