Today’s Update:

  • PM Boris Johnson has been released from Hospital
  • UK has now over 10,612 deaths
  • 2,295 spare critical care beds in England with more spare capacity in critical care than at the start of virus
  • The UK now has a record number of Ventilators with 9675, with over 5,000 NHS staff returning and a further 36,000 coming forward to assist.
  • There is a record amount of PPE in the system with millions being delivered daily. The government also confirms everybody can have medicines they need 
  • 42,812 NHS and social care staff and families have now been tested
  • New NHS app for contact and tracing has been launched. The app will be able to inform others who have been in contact with someone with COVID 19.
  • Number of people in hospitals in London with Covid 19 has reduced. However, Seeing other regions such as North East & Yorkshire increasing.
  • Royal College of Nursing has issued guidance advising Nurses to refuse to treat patients with COVID 19 if they are not given adequate personal protective equipment (PPE). This decision should be a last resort.

Previous Measures remain in place:

  • People should not meet with friends or family members they do not live with
  • Shopping is only permitted for essentials like food and medicine
  • Police have powers to enforce the rules, which include disbursements of gatherings and issuance of fines
  • All shops selling non-essential goods to be closed 
  • Libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and places of worship remain closed
  • All gatherings of more than two people in public excluding those you live with are banned
  • All social events are banned, including weddings and baptisms, but Funerals are excluded 
  • Parks remain open for exercise, however, gatherings will be dispersed
  • These restrictions will be constantly reviewed 
  • Self- Employed will be able to claim 80% of average monthly earnings over past 3 years, capped to £2500 per month, open to those who are already self-employed with trading profits up to £50,000 a year and have a self-assessment tax return for 2019
